Providence leads healthy baby initiative

November 14, 2012
Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems reports that one year after 17 Oregon hospitals put a "hard stop" on elective, non-medically necessary inductions and cesarean section prior to 39 weeks, some hospitals are showing trends of significant reduction in early elective deliveries. Four Providence Hospitals –PHRMH, PMMC, PPMC and PSVMC – lead the state.

The "Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait" initiative, headed by the March of Dimes, has helped reduce overall preterm births by 8 percent. To see a breakdown of specific hospitals, click here.
