November 16, 2012

NEWBERG, Ore. - Providence Health & Services is pleased to announce that Lori Van Zanten has accepted the position of chief executive for Providence Yamhill Service Area, which includes Providence Newberg Medical Center. For the past year Van Zanten has served as chief operating and nursing officer for Providence Newberg Medical Center. She replaces Alan Olive, who accepted a leadership position at Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare in Carson City, Nev. in August.

“The Providence Mission is the heart of what we do and I feel privileged to serve in such a values-driven organization,” says Van Zanten. “I’m honored to continue leading Providence Newberg and excited to be part of a community that is so supportive of its hospital.”

Prior to coming to Providence Newberg Medical Center, Lori served as assistant administrator and vice president of operations at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Wash. During her time at Providence St. Peter, Lori led the operations for the 390-bed medical center and linked services and programs within a five-county region to improve community health, patient satisfaction and quality standards.

“Van Zanten’s experience as a leader, coupled with her enthusiasm, dedication and energy, are great additions to Newberg,” explains Janice Burger, chief executive of Providence’s Western Oregon Region. “She knows that being the best means inspiring people, and she’s excited to be part of a team that provides excellent services to the community.”

“I love to connect with people – patients, employees, physicians, community – it’s what makes me feel like I’m making a difference. I’m extraordinarily excited to be able to work with such an excellent team of health care providers who have a proven reputation of providing outstanding care and customer service,” says Van Zanten.

Van Zanten grew up in Arcadia, Calif. and attended California State University, Long Beach where she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She also holds a master’s degree in community health administration and is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
