Lung Cancer interview with Rachel E. Sanborn, M.D.

November 22, 2011
Providence medical oncologist, Rachel E. Sanborn, M.D., participated in an interview with KOIN TV about the prevalence, treatment and outcomes for lung cancer. She also addressed the importance of patient advocacy for this disease, which is the deadliest of all cancers, taking more lives than breast, colon, prostate and bladder cancers combined.

Dr. Sanborn’s patient, Glenna Marshall, who is currently in treatment for stage II lung cancer, was also interviewed. Glenna spoke passionately about the different attitude and culture around smoking when she started smoking 47 years ago. Risks were unknown, and media and advertising glamorized smoking. Though Glenna quit 11 years ago, she still encounters stigma for her disease.
