Supporters of Providence Newberg Health Foundation were issued a challenge by USHIO America, Inc. In response to anyone making an estate gift commitment to the foundation in 2011, the Newberg company would recognize this generosity with a $1,000 matching gift. USHIO would match up to eight commitments for a total of $8,000. Donors more than met the challenge with nine commitments by October. On Oct. 31, Janice Wenrich, human resource director at USHIO America Oregon Operations, presented a check for the full amount to Phil Tompkins (left), president of the foundation's Board of Trustees, and Alan Olive, chief executive of Providence Newberg Medical Center.
