New Physician at Providence Medical Group - Oregon City Improves Access to Care
September 08, 2011
Gerry Dunlap, M.D., an internal medicine physician, has joined the staff of Providence Medical Group–Oregon City Internal Medicine and is accepting new patients.
Dr. Dunlap considers himself a teacher and advocate for his patients, working to help them better understand and navigate health information. “A well-prepared and educated patient is the best advocate for his or her health,” he says. “An effective doctor/patient relationship is one where both parties actively work to improve the health of the patient.”
He also says it’s important to be aware of each patient’s everyday activities so he can create an effective and efficient plan of care. “I try to understand the influences that contribute to a person’s health, such as their hobbies, lifestyle and occupation,” he says.
Dr. Dunlap earned his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. He completed his internship and residency at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland. Married and the father of one child, Dr. Dunlap enjoys camping, hiking and fishing in his free time.
