Music-thanatology celebrates 10th year

In 2001, Providence Portland and Providence St. Vincent became the first medical centers in the nation to employ full-time music-thanalogists to serve patients and families within each facility. Using Celtic harps, these specially trained musicians play for end-of-life care, alleviating pain and emotional distress. Ten years later, music-thanatology has become one of the most highly valued aspects of spiritual care offered by Providence in the Portland service area. Read more...
