Dr. Ted Lowenkopf explains Foreign Accent Syndrome

Have you ever imagined waking up to a different voice? This is what happened to a native Oregonian woman who awoke from dental surgery to a brand new British-like accent. This was the result of a rare condition known as Foreign Accent Syndrome.
Ted Lowenkopf, M.D., stroke neurologist and medical director of Providence Stroke Center, was recruited to provide medical expertise on this unique condition. He was featured in a story that aired on NBC’s Today Show as well as KATU’s AM Northwest and NPR. Dr. Lowenkopf was also featured in a story that appeared on the front page of The Oregonian
