Signing to communicate

The Swindells Resource Center is inviting parents and providers interested in communicating using American Sign Language, ASL, to improve their communication with children who experience communication challenges.

Velma Foust, a native ASL signer, is a 4th generation deaf person and a parent of children that experience hearing loss. She has extensive experience working with adults and children that experience hearing loss offering training for life and coping skills. She has participated in the production of video training programs to enhance ASL skills and storytelling and is an active member of the local deaf community.

This is a beginning class, so no previous sign experience is required. It is appropriate for parents and siblings of children with communication challenges. You must preregister to attend. This is an 8 week class.
