Supporting Your Child in Special Education: Learn, Organize, Believe

Please join Swindells Resource Center and Oregon Family Support Network, OFSN as we present Victoria Haight. Victoria, the statewide training coordinator for the Oregon Family Support Network, brings over ten years of experience as a trainer and advocate for families of children experiencing disability. As a parent herself, Victoria knows the joys and challenges of raising a child with developmental and other mental health issues and believes in using a strength based approach for all children and families.

To be an effective advocate for your child, you can start by gathering information about your child’s disability and learning about the IEP process. Join Victoria as she discusses:

  • Learn: Understand your child’s disability and your rights and responsibilities in special education, including understanding the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Organize: Document and organize your child’s records.
  • Believe: Communicate effectively
