You can learn practical, evidence-based mindfulness skills at a weekend retreat designed specifically for physicians. The class, limited to 25 physicians, will be held April 1-3 at the Heart of Wisdom Zen Temple, 6401 NE 10th Ave., Portland.
With enhanced mindfulness skills, you will be able to:
- Improve communication with patients and coworkers
- Increase your compassion, job satisfaction and emotional well-being
- Rediscover the joy of practicing medicine
Presenters will include Dan Rubin, Psy.D.,Denise Gour, LCSW, and Laura Martin, LCSW. All are specialists in mindfulness-based stress reduction.
The Mindful Medicine team is a circle of Portland physicians and consultants developing evidence-based mindfulness tools, communication and leadership skills for health care providers. Providence physicians Jeff Horacek, M.D., David Schroeder, M.D., and Elizabeth Stephens, M.D., lead the executive board of this nonprofit group.
The fee for this event is $350 and includes food, beverages and materials. The event is broken into three sessions:
7 - 9 p.m., Friday
10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday
1 - 5 p.m., Sunday
