Robotic-assisted surgery

The number of gynecologic conditions that require surgery can now be treated effectively via minimally invasive surgery. Robotic technology allows your surgeon to perform complex procedures through just a few small incisions, so you can get back to your life faster – without the usual recovery following major surgery.

The advanced da Vinci Surgical System provides our surgeons with enhanced capabilities, including high-definition 3D vision and a magnified view. Though it is often called a “robot,” da Vinci does not act on its own. Your doctor controls the da Vinci System, which translates his or her hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside your body. Potential advantages include less pain during recovery, fewer complications, less scarring and shorter hospital stays.

If you’ve been putting off surgery for a gynecologic problem, ask your doctor about robotic surgery for:

  • Ovarian cysts and masses
  • Uterine prolapse
  • Fibroids
  • Heavy uterine bleeding
  • Cervical and endometrial cancers
  • Endometriosis

Mammography and DEXA (bone density) screening

A mammogram remains the best available method to detect breast cancer early – when it’s most treatable. But the key to this screening is that it be done regularly. Once is not enough. The Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center at Providence is a leading Breast Center of Excellence as designated by the American College of Radiology and has the honor of earning a 97% patient satisfaction score by the women we serve.

For women requiring additional diagnostic imaging the breast center offers the only breast-specific gamma imaging technology in southern Oregon.

High Risk Assessment Services

Does breast or ovarian cancer run in your family? The Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center at Providence can help you protect yourself. We offer free hereditary risk assessment and counseling with a nurse navigator and optional fee-based genetic testing and counseling with a specially trained physician.

DEXA, or bone density screening is also available at the Providence Breast Center.
