Overview

We help families feel at home.
At Providence BirthPlace, women labor, give birth and recover with their new babies in a private suite equipped with a baby special birthing bed. The room is furnished to make you, your family and your baby feel comfortable and at home throughout your entire stay. It also provides ready access to the latest medical equipment, just in case it’s needed. Your baby is cared for in your personal suite and stays with you and your family as much as you desire. In addition to the latest birthing room technology, your room is furnished with a private Jacuzzi tub, guest daybed, color flat screen TV, DVD player, dining area and rocking chair.

We honor your labor and delivery choices.
During your labor, a highly skilled nurse will assist you and your support person and provide information and reassurance. We want to meet your goal for a gentle birth. Pain management during childbirth is about patient choice and you may change your choice of pain management at any time. Early patient-controlled epidural anesthesia, IV pain medicine and coaching to help you breathe through your labor are all available.

We offer no-cost doula support
A doula is a woman who is trained to provide continuous and nurturing physical, emotional and informational support to a mother during her labor and delivery. Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily. Providence BirthPlace doulas assist with births at no charge, depending on availability.  Read more. »

Couplet care yields a better care experience.
Providence BirthPlace is proud to offer couplet care, which means both mom and baby are cared for by the same nursing team for the duration of their stay. This familiarity leads to better communication and more personalized care.

High-tech care means the best for infants.

  • Our wireless fetal monitor system allows your doctor and nurses to check on you from any computer, at any time. Without wires to worry about, you are free to leave your room and walk around the BirthPlace during labor.
  • The BirthPlace surgical suite provides the necessary technology should a cesarean section be required.
  • Highly trained physicians and nurses are on staff in the state-of-the-art special care nursery to care for babies who may have additional health needs, such as antibiotics or respiratory support.

We are committed to breastfeeding.
In 2000, UNICEF and the World Health Organization certified Providence BirthPlace as the 26th Baby-Friendly™ birth facility in the nation.
