Description

Currently, most physicians engage in Advance Care Planning (ACP) discussions using verbal descriptions of possible goals-of-care options, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and mechanical ventilation.  These interventions may be difficult for patients to imagine using verbal descriptions alone.  Video images have been shown to improve understanding of complex health care information and inform decision-making.  Dr. Volandes will review shared decision-making in the context of end-of-life care and how videos can surmount communication barriers.
