Sun damage

Also known as: Actinic keratosis, Actinic lentigines

Brown spots that appear on the wrist, backs of the hands, forearms and face can be caused by sun damage. They are commonly known as liver spots, sun spots and age spots. Sun damage also may appear in the form of red-, brown- or skin-colored patches that become scaly or crusty. For those who want to improve the appearance of their skin, there are a variety of cosmetic procedures. Talk with a Providence dermatologist about treatment options.
