Risks for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Other Neuropathies
 
Certain groups of people are at a higher risk of developing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and other neuropathies. The folllowing people are at higher risk of developing these conditions: 
  • Diabetics
  • People who are obese
  • Alcoholics
  • Some cancer patients especially those undergoing chemotherapy
  • Those suffering from kidney disorders, liver disease, autoimmune disease, vascular disease or blood disease
  • Those with nutritional deficiencies People who purse repetitive, forceful and awkward activities such as workers who use machines associated with force and/or vibration (such as drills and jack hammers)
  • Pregnant women can be prone to CTS
  • Those suffering from direct trauma to the wrist can be prone to CTS
