Dupuytren's disease

Also known as: Viking’s disease
The disease causes tissue under the skin of the palm of your hand to thicken and shorten. This can pull and bend the fingers in toward the palm. You may not be able to straighten them.

Providence Orthopedic Institute offers professional treatment for adults and children in the following areas: joint reconstruction, revisions, foot and ankle injuries, hand and upper extremity surgery, fracture care, trauma and sports injuries. We use a variety of assessment and treatment tools to establish an accurate diagnosis quickly and develop a plan of care that is tailored to the needs of each patient.

Radiation therapy can offer effective non-surgical treatment to stop or slow down Dupuytren’s disease in early stages. In our Providence Radiation Oncology facilities we offer professional evaluation and treatment for patients with Dupuytren’s and Ledderhose disease.

The International Dupuytren Society has more information about this condition, treatment options, and research.
